A sneak into East Point Golf Club

Others Jul 16, 2020

Golf courses with their long stretches of greenery always attracted me and this is the sole reason for me to sneak into East Point golf club in the past, not once but twice. However my last attempt in 2019 was unsuccessful because of the increased security. I read that EPGC is one of the oldest golf courses in India having established in 1880s near the Vuda park area facing the sea (Infact the small golf area in The Park hotel adjacent to the sea is a part of the original course). It seems that the course is shifted to its present location in the 1960s due to some lease agreement problem. The present location is no less beautiful, with the Eastern Ghats providing a back drop and Mudasarlova reservoir being located adjacent to the course, it is indeed picturesque. Nevertheless, I’m not sure whether the course is an important one in the golfing picture of India as I hardly hear any important tournaments being conducted here expect for the Navy related tournaments. I believe it has much better to offer.

With the growing prominence of the city and the executive capital buzz surrounding it; I’m sure it is going to gain more prominence. More importantly I read a news article stating that the course is being redesigned to meet international standards and thus good days are definitely ahead of East Point golf club in Vizag.
